Reckless Getaway iPad Review

Reckless Getaway is currently one of the most popular games on the app store.

If you loved Reckless racing this game will blow your socks off. It has borrowed many ques from wreckless racing with the handling of the cars. It puts you in the hot seat of a muscle car handling hill billy style which makes for some excellent gameplay. There is no option to control the throttle or brakes but that is what makes this game just so much more fun. The action is fast paced but not fast enough not to keep up with.

Your mission is to collect as many points before reaching the end of a level. You earn points for crashing police cars, civilian cars and collecting coins. You also get three different types of pick ups which are a great deal of fun. The pickups consist of a speed boost, jump and a shockwave blast which when activated send surrounding cars flying.

The police isn't difficult even further into the game. They are just perfect when looking at the aim of the game. Causing chaos, wrecking cars and getting away after robbing a bank.

The only problem with the game is that to unlock more chapters you need to obtain more stars which you can only do by memorising levels. Still it doesn't subtract from the gameplay and it is always fun playing any of the levels in the game.

They opted for a more cartoon look in the game which is perfect for the less seriousness of the gameplay. On the ipad however there are some times when you wish they gave the graphics some more attention.

Positive
Fun handling model
Replay value as you try to earn more stars
Wrecking police and civilian cars have never been this much fun
One purchase works on both iPhone and iPad

Negatives
More cars with different handling characteristics would have been nice

Rage HD Review

Rage HD is without question the best looking game iOs has ever seen. The HD version will set you back $1.99 while the standard iPhone version only costs $0.99

We highly recommend the HD version as you want to see those jaw dropping graphics! Rage HD is a first person shooter. While not the first on the ios platform it really is the best currently available. First person shooters have been a challenge on the ios platform because they usually require alot of keys to play properly. They were however very smart with Rage HD and have put the user on rails which means the game moves for you when you have to move.

Some may not like this but it has put a very interesting twist on the genre. No longer can you linger around looking for ammo and guns. You now have to move at the pace of the game and the pace of Rage is super fast. The first few times you play it you probably won't even see the ammo and target scattered around all the levels. This is where it seperates great and average players.

The game is very easy to learn and is enjoyable from the first second that the cutscene loads. Even if you don't like first person shooters you should really get this game just to watch in awe at the amazing graphics your device is capable of!

Conclusion - 5 stars

Positives
Excellent graphics and sound
Gets quite scary
Fast paced action at it's best

Negatives
Needs more levels

Parking HD iPad Review

Parking HD is the iPad version of the extremely popular parking game for the iPhone. Unfortunately it is a new purchase but this one is well worth it.

What do you get for your money? You get everything we loved about the iPhone version except now we have an excellent screen to play it on! Especially the night levels are now much easier and more fun to play. You can also see shortcuts more easily to shave off precious seconds to get a higher score.

The game handles exactly the same as on the iPhone but the graphics appear to be much better now. Sound is still quite dull and not really part of the gameplay.

Conclusion - 4 stars

Positives
Many levels
All vehicles handle differently
Complex levels with many hidden coins to find with loads of replay value

Negatives
Sound seems detatched from the game
Tilt steering sometimes just isn't accurate enough

Where's my water? Review

The biggest game the app store has seen recently is Where's my water?
We are all familiar with the Jelly Car series and Know that Disney can make killer games for ios. What they have done this time is a sort of cut the rope game where you need to get water to a crocodile in a bathtub that wants to have a bath. Along the way you need to getnsome water to his three ducks and avoid some obstacles.

The game features over 80 levels currently and more is promised with updates. It is a fun game to play but somehow it isn't quite as addictive as cut the rope. Levels are well designed and makes you think to get all three ducks. Some levels are even scrollable for even more mayhem.

Where's my water is an excellent game at just $0.99 and is sompatible with both the iPhone and iPad.

Conclusion - 5 stars

Positives
Loads of levels
Great fun for kids and adults
Addictive
Great level design with excellent puzzles that are challenging but never frustrating

Negatives
Something we can't quite put our finger on

Simple Physics Review

Simple physics is like pontifex but the focus is not on building train bridges this time around. A once off purchase for the iPhone and iPad version is a grest deal!

In Simple Physics you build everything from tree houses to submarines and high rise buildings. Your design is then put through it's paces with tests to see if it can cope with what is required.

Building in the game is handled exceptionally well and playing on the iPad is a must if you own one. Gameplay on the iPhone is equally impressive.

Building a solid structure looks much simpler than it is while keeping within the budget. Even when stretching the budget you notice that design is king. The game really makes you work very hard to earn three stars on all level and sometimes can be a real head scratcher.

If you like physics and puzzles this is a must own game.

Conclusion - 4 stars

Positives
Real physics
Puzzling

Negatives
Needs more levels but we can't really complain for the price

Contre Jour HD Review

Contre Jour is an iphone and iPad add which has caused a massive buzz when it was released. The iPhone version costs $0.99 and the HD version for both iPad and iPhone costs $2.99.

We are reviewing the HD version on the iPhone and iPad. Playing Contre Jour on the iPhone is great but on the iPad it is just a whole new experience. The excellent graphics and sound just submerse you so much more into the whole experience. Contre Jour isn't just a game. It is an experience. The beauty and magic feeling you get from playing on the iPad is in a league we have never before experienced.

It is a pity there are so little levels but the in game screens show that more levels are coming soon. Currently there are three chapters each with 20 levels. Each chapter has it's own theme subbmersing the player in different worlds.

If you have played cut the rope or world of goo then Countre Jour is just more of the same but on a whole new level of quality with an enlightening experience.

Conclusion - 5 stars

Positives
Graphics
Sound
Submersive experience that is out of this world

Negatives
None

Harbor Master iPad review

Harbor master is an excellent free game for the iPad. You can purchase more levels should you get bored or just want more of a variety from within the app.

You are a harbor master and have to direct ships into the port to unload their goods and send them off without crashing into any of the other boats. There are many similar games on the app store but none are quite this polished or addictive. Graphics are excellent and the soundtrack is heavenly.

There are different types of ships from small to large cargo ships that contain up to four pieces of cargo.. The more cargo a ship caries the slower it moves and longer it takes to unload. Some levels also have color coded ports where you can only unload the same color cargo.

Some levels also have express ports that unload cargo much faster which are excellent for those large cargo ships. The game does get more difficult the more ships you sucessfully unload but does so gradually. What usually gets you in the end is not the amount of ships on screen but the amount of large cargo ships that getnin the way of the smaller ones.

Conclusion - 5 stars

Positives
Great soundtrack and graphics
Relaxing yet nerve wrecking
First level is free

Negatives
None
